Before you call: the four things we will ask
Having these ready turns a five-minute call into a one-minute call, and it decides which pack we put in the truck:
- Where the car is. Cross street, lot name, garage level, or the nearest exit sign if you are on a shoulder.
- Year, make and model. It tells us where the battery and jump points are.
- What happens when you turn the key. Rapid clicking, one loud click, a slow crank, or nothing at all.
- Whether it is a hybrid or an EV. Different access, same price.

Do you sell or install batteries?
Not currently. We test yours, tell you what it is actually reading, and tell you plainly whether it is done. If it needs replacing we point you at where you can get one on the Island quickly and what size to ask for. We would rather send you somewhere else than pretend a jump solved a battery that is finished.
Time and what happens after
Will a jump start fix my battery for good?
No. A jump restarts the car; it does not repair a battery. If the battery is healthy and died because an interior light stayed on, thirty or more minutes of real driving will put the charge back. If it is old, sulfated or has a dead cell, it will die again, often the same week. The test we run tells you which of those two you have.
How long should I drive after a jump?
At least thirty minutes of actual driving, not idling in the driveway. An alternator charges far better at road speed than at idle, so a run on the Expressway or the West Shore Expressway does more in fifteen minutes than an hour of sitting still. Skip the short hop to the store and back, which is what drained it in the first place.
Safety
Is it safe to jump a frozen battery?
No. A deeply discharged battery can freeze, and a frozen case under a charging current can rupture and spray acid. We look at the case for bulging or splitting and check it before anything gets connected. If it is frozen it has to thaw somewhere warm or be replaced, and we will tell you that instead of forcing it.
What goes wrong when a jump is done the wrong way?
Three things, over and over: reversed polarity, sparking right at the battery where it vents hydrogen, and clamping the ground to the wrong place. The results range from a blown fusible link to a fried body control module, which is a repair many times the cost of the battery. Order and placement are the whole job.
Vehicles
Can you jump a motorcycle?
Yes, $125, using a pack set for a small battery rather than a car-sized boost. Motorcycle batteries are tiny and unforgiving, so current has to be controlled. Tell us the make and model on the call and where the battery lives if you know, since on a lot of bikes it means getting under a seat or a side panel.
My battery is in the trunk or under the seat — can you still jump it?
Yes. Cars with the battery in the trunk, under a rear seat or under the floor almost always have a remote positive jump post under the hood and a designated ground stud nearby, exactly so the battery does not have to be reached. We know where those live on common models and we use them instead of hunting for the battery itself.

Do you serve Brooklyn or New Jersey?
No. Staten Island only, and that is deliberate: it is why we can hold a flat rate and a real ETA instead of quoting an hour and a half from somewhere across a toll. If you broke down on the Verrazzano-Narrows, Goethals, Bayonne or Outerbridge approach, we meet you on the Staten Island side.
Do I need to be with the car?
Yes. Someone with the keys has to be there, because the car has to be started, run and tested with us standing there, and because we do not open the hood of an unattended vehicle. If you are handing the keys to a family member or a coworker, tell us on the call who we are meeting.
Do you tow if the jump does not work?
No, we do not tow, and we do not have a tow partner waiting for a referral. What you get instead is a straight diagnosis: alternator, starter, dead cell, immobilizer or a battery that is finished. Knowing which one it is means you call the right service once instead of paying for the wrong one first.
Which neighborhoods take longest to reach?
Honestly, the far South Shore around Tottenville and Richmond Valley, and the West Shore at rush hour, sit at the top of the 20 to 40 minute range. The North Shore and Mid-Island usually land at the bottom of it. You get the real number on the call, based on where the truck is at that moment, not a slogan.
