Why a diesel needs more than a car booster

A diesel has no spark plugs. It fires on compression alone, which means it has to be spun fast enough and hard enough to generate the heat that lights the fuel. That is a much larger electrical ask than a petrol engine makes, and it arrives with three complications stacked on top of it.

Glow plugs draw before the engine even turns. On a cold morning they pull serious current just to preheat the cylinders, out of the same batteries that then have to crank.
Cold oil fights the starter. Thick oil at 20°F means the starter is turning against far more resistance than it does in July.
Two batteries fail as a pair. Dual-battery setups age together, and one weak battery drags the good one down. A truck that started fine in October will not start in January.

A consumer jump pack sized for a sedan will not move that. We carry commercial-grade boosters for exactly this, which is why the dual-battery calls get quoted rather than squeezed into a flat rate that does not fit them.
